Frequently Asked Questions

How does laser tattoo removal work?

Tattoo removal works based on our bodies immune system. The tattoo ink is broken up into particles and flushed out of our system by macrophages (which are like little pac men eating away at the ink.)

We begin each individual's treatment plan with a free consultation. This is absolutley necessary because certain prescriptions, over the counter medications and other medical conditions can seriously interfere with thte laser tattoo removal and cause it to be unsafe for some individuals.

After this no-fee consultation, if laser tattoo removal is determined to be an appropriate method, we will lay out a plan specifically targeted for your individuale needs and goals. You will find that our prices are more reasonable than our competitors, and our plans are uniquely personalized, and that our equipment is state of the art.

Does it hurt?

Laser pulses feel similar to being snapped by a rubber bank. Prior to your treatment, topical
numbing creams can be used.

How many treatments are required?

Professional tattoos will need 6 – 8 treatments generally spaced 6 – 8 weeks apart to allow
the body to remove the ink. Homemade tattoos usually take less treatments since the ink
is more superficial. We can also lighten the tattoo only, which will require less treatments.

How do I take care of my skin after the treatment?

A. The area is kept clean and an anti-bacterial ointment will need to applied. You may resume
all normal activities except sun tanning during the healing process.

Is R20 laser tattoo removal safe?

Yes.  The R20 method of laser tattoo removal is effective and safe. There are no significant increased side effects seen with this new method of treatment.

R20 Results

Combining 2 to 4 laser tattoo removal treatments during one office visit lets the laser reach deeper than with a traditional single-pass treatment.  One R20 treatment would be sufficient to completely remove an amateur black tattoo or for lightening a tattoo for a new one.  For professionally applied black tattoos, however, about 50-75% fading can occur.  This is significantly more fading that expected from 3-4 conventional treatments.

Is the R20 method more painful than traditional laser tattoo removal?

The discomfort experienced in R20 treatments is no worse than conventional treatments for which the majority of clients don't want pre-numbing.

What can I expect after an R20 laser tattoo removal session?

Most clients will be able to return to normal activities immediately or in a day.  Localized swelling and slight inflammation are common, as is slight bruisingand blistering around the treated area.
